Patricia Mitchell retired in 2020 from her full-time position as Executive Vice President of Industrial Bank, the largest and oldest African American-owned bank in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, and the fourth largest in the Country, according to the most recent publication of Black Enterprise. In 1934, Jesse H. Mitchell, Patricia's grandfather, founded the Industrial Bank of Washington (later renamed Industrial Bank). He served as the Bank's president until his death in 1955. Since that time, her father, B. Doyle Mitchell Sr., and brother, B. Doyle Mitchell Jr., assumed leadership of the Bank. Industrial Bank is headquartered in Washington, D.C. with branch offices in Washington, DC, Maryland, New Jersey and New York.

Ms. Mitchell has over 40 years of banking experience. She launched her career with Industrial Bank as a teller and moved progressively through the Bank's ranks. Among the various positions held over the years, she served as Branch Manager, Commercial Lender, Commercial Real Estate Lender, Information Security Officer and Chief Lending Officer. Industrial Bank is a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) which is a financial institution that provides services and financing to underserved communities. Ms. Mitchell was responsible for grant applications to the CDFI Fund of which the Bank successfully received many allocations, particularly the Bank Enterprise Award. Ms. Mitchell currently serves on the board of directors for Industrial Bank and Roots Public Charter School. She is a former board member of the Historical Society of Washington, D.C., Adoptions Together and Metropolitan Community Development Corporation. Her community service also includes conducting financial literacy at DC Jail. She also participates on panels in the school system and community organizations on topics such as purchasing real estate, first time homebuying, credit, and savings.

Ms. Mitchell and her brother, Doyle, have compiled their first literary work about the history of Industrial Bank. With 230 images, the Bank's story is brought to life celebrating politicians, celebrities, valued customers and employees that have played such an important role in the success of the Bank. Ms. Mitchell graduated with a BS degree in Design and Merchandising from Drexel University and a MBA in Finance from Marymount University.
